Highlights of this three day adventure add-on include sea kayaking in Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park and getting off the beaten track to explore remote valleys by bike.

 

This three day itinerary is designed to bolt on to either of our 7 day NZ Adrenalin or NZ Adventure tours and includes incredible wildlife opportunities whilst sea kayaking in Milford Sound, XC biking through remote backcountry valleys and time spent exploring the stunning Glenorchy region.

Day 8: TE ANAU TO MILFORD SOUND TO TE ANAU

After an early breakfast you’ll depart on a full day return trip to Milford Sound which includes 4-5 hours of sea kayaking in this sheltered Fiord; a great opportunity to interact with seals, dolphins and penguins. With its sheer mountains rising straight up out of the ocean, huge waterfalls and its protected marine life, this incredible destination is a jewel in the crown of New Zealand tourism, and has been described as the eighth wonder of the world.

Day 9: TE ANAU TO QUEENSTOWN

This morning you’ll have a leisurely breakfast before gearing up, grabbing a picnic lunch and driving to the starting point for the X Country mountain bike ride. This backcountry ride pedals through the remote and picturesque Vonn valley and alongside the sparkling Vonn River all the way to the Walter Peak homestead on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Here you’ll board the iconic TSS Earnslaw steamship for a 45 minute lake cruise back to Queenstown.

Day 10: QUEENSTOWN

For your final day we will spend the morning on a scenic adventure at the head of Lake Wakatipu exploring the small township of Glenorchy and the surrounding Paradise and Dart Valleys. This area offers breathtaking scenery of glaciers, rivers, mountains and lakes, and is home to many filming locations including those from Lord Of The Rings, The Hobbit and other Hollywood blockbusters.
There are hiking options here as well as horse riding and fly fishing for which the area is very well known. Your afternoon is free to continue exploring the Glenorchy region or to head back to Queenstown.
