Day 1: ARRIVAL IN PANAMA CITY

• Arrive at the international airport in Panama City, Panama (PTY). Flight arrangements made independently.
• Upon arrival, airport reception outside the customs / immigration area.
• Private transportation to Panama City’s historic Casco Viejo district to the American Trade Hotel. Transportation time is approximately 30 minutes.
• Check in for a three-night stay at American Trade Hotel (one double-occupancy Super Cuarto).
• Evening at leisure in Panama City

Day 2: PANAMA CITY

• Breakfast at American Trade Hotel
• Morning departure for a group-basis tour to the Panama Canal, where you will board a ship that will take you through part of the canal. During this five to seven- hour tour (depending on waiting time at the locks) you will first pass through part of Lake Gatún, through the Gaillard or Culebra Cut, underneath the majestic Centennial Bridge, and through the continental divide to the Pedro Miguel Lock. As you approach Flamenco Island, you will pass under the Bridge of the Americas. Lunch will be served aboard the ship. Departure time to be determined locally.

Day 3: PANAMA CITY

• Breakfast at American Trade Hotel
• Depart for a guided tour of Panama City’s historic Old Quarter or Casco Viejo, which dates to the 1600s. This neighborhood, undergoing an era of restoration, is known for its historic churches, plazas, and mansions. Visit the French Plaza, the Las Bovedas dungeon, Plaza Bolivar, the Parque Central, and noteworthy churches. The Panama Canal Museum is also located here. The Casco Viejo is an excellent place to shop for handcrafts.
• Continue on to a privately guided tour of the Miraflores locks of the Panama Canal. Here you will witness the raising or lowering of a ship as it passes through this impressive engineering feat completed in 1914. The Miraflores Visitors Center also contains a Canal Museum, which holds information on its history from the first construction efforts by the French, to its new expansion completed in 2016.

Day 4: PANAMA CITY TO PORTOBELO

• Breakfast at American Trade Hotel
• Private land transportation to the town of Portobelo and the El Otro Lado pier. This transfer takes approximately 2 hours.
• Upon arrival to the pier, boat transfer provided by the resort.
• Check in for a four-night stay at El Otro Lado Private Retreat (one double-occupancy Sea House ).
