9 Day Customized Vacation to Brazil

South America > Brazil

Brazil, the world’s fifth largest country, dominates almost half of South America. Covering more than five-million-square miles, it spans four time zones and exceeds the size of the contiguous 48 United States. Brazil’s territory displays great topographical variety, including mountains, plains, rainforests, islands, and 4,600 miles of Atlantic coastline—a seemingly endless stretch of white and gold beaches. Brazil shares inland borders with every South American country except Chile and Ecuador specifically, Uruguay to the south; Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia to the southwest; Peru to the west; Colombia to the northwest; and Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana to the north.

Accommodations

HOTEL EMILIANO

Opened in 2018, Emiliano Rio de Janeiro has quickly become one of our favorites: a design-focused boutique hotel with a prime location on Copacabana Beach. Even the hotel’s exterior has won awards; the façade is a system of movable panels that creates an ever-changing sculpture. Inside, contemporary style blends with touches from Rio’s modernist golden age: light-toned wood, polished stone, and museum-quality furnishings by Brazil’s top designers.

The main floor restaurant is backdropped by an orchid-studded living wall—the perfect setting for the best brunch in the city. Among the other amenities are a comfortable lounge, seafood restaurant, rooftop swimming pool and sundeck, full- service spa, and 24-hour fitness center. Beach service is provided, with chairs, umbrellas, and drink service.

The 90 soothing guestrooms feature with crisp linens, contemporary décor, marble, and natural wood. Some upper category rooms have large windows or private balconies overlooking Avenida Atlantica and the Copacabana sand. Each guestroom is furnished with security box, mini-bar, bathrobes, beach sandals, hairdryer, and Wi- Fi.

Great looks and amenities aside, what really sets Emiliano apart is natural hospitality —the genuine warmth and care offered by its staff.

UXUA CASA HOTEL & SPA

Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa is a collection of eleven casitas, surrounded by gardens at the edge of the historic Quadrado—Trancoso’s picturesque village square. Conceived by fashion designers Wilbert Das and Robert Shevlin, each of the houses has a unique personality and feel.

The attention to detail and originality of each room make Uxua one of our favorite hotels in South America. Don’t just take our word for it; the hotel is a regular in Elle, Architectural Digest, Town & Country, and Vogue.

At the heart of Uxua’s garden, an open-air breakfast restaurant and sundeck flank a swimming pool lined with shimmering blue quartz crystals. Nearby, you’ll find a yoga studio, spa, a second restaurant, gym, concierge desk, and a boutique for the Casa Uxua line of artisan housewares. Daybeds are reserved for guests at the Uxua Beach Bar at Praia Nativos—a five-minute walk from the hotel.

Each of the guestrooms features hand-made furnishings and fixtures, made locally with traditional techniques. All casas and villas at Uxua have air conditioning. Each is furnished with fan, security box, television, bathrobes, beach sandals, and hairdryer.
