Combining mountain biking and traditional safari game drives, this itinerary allows participants more time and access to first hand experiences rather than ‘standard’ driving only safaris. Incorporating the greater Tarangire ecosystem, the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and the world famous Serengeti – this trip is designed for those that have an adventurous spirit and want to engage in their environment.

Excellent habitat variety from rolling hills, open plains, ground water forest, massive volcanoes, culture, and the Serengeti Migration.

Day 1: ARUSHA

Upon arrival into Kilimanjaro International Airport you are personally met and transferred to your well-appointed lodge.

Day 2: GREATER TARANGIRE

You depart with picnic lunches and head out to the Makayuni junction. From here you set out on bikes for 3 hours (25km) and ride into your well-appointed tented lodge, which borders the Greater Tarangire ecosystem. You have enough time to freshen up and sit around the campfire with drinks before dinner.

Day 3: TARANGIRE

After breakfast armed with picnic lunches you head into Tarangire National Park. Known for its massive elephant populations and great predator sightings, you game drive and then enjoy a nice picnic lunch. In the afternoon, you head back to your accommodation and arrive before dusk and dinner.

Day 4: LAKE MANYARA

Today you depart the lodge on bikes and head towards the Great Rift Valley. En route you encounter Masai villages and a stunning backdrop. You take a lunch break at a waterfall and then continue to ride towards the Southern Manyara park entrance. You bike around 5 hours including lunch (32km). At the gate you have an option for a quick shower or just continue into Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its tree-climbing lions and forests with cool underground springs, you game drive and end up at the front entrance and head to your well-appointed tented lodge. You arrive in time to freshen up and have dinner.

Day 5: NGORONGORO CRATER

After a very early breakfast you head towards the Ngorongoro Consevation Area. After formalities at the gate you drop down into the 2000ft caldera to game drive in the crater floor. Here you have chances of seeing the Big Five including endangered black rhino! After some lunch you then head back out of the crater and head towards your well-appointed accommodation on the Great Rift Valley escarpment. You arrive in time for dinner.

Day 6: SERENGETI

This morning we transfer to Manyara airstrip to catch a schedule charter flight to Serengeti National Park. Upon arrival you are personally met and taken to your accommodation. You enjoy lunch and outline the rest of the day’s activities at leisure.

Day 7: SERENGETI

The Serengeti is a vast ecosystem that is contiguous with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Masai Mara in Kenya. Your camp is set according to the best game locations. From our camp we head out and game drive looking for elusive leopard and depending on the time of year, the migrating herds of wildebeests. Typically, your days are spent game driving in the morning and afternoon with time for lunch and a siesta in camp during the heat of the day. There are options to go further afield and take packed breakfasts and lunches. Time is your own in the African wilderness!

Day 8: SERENGETI

Day 9: ARUSHA / DEPART

In the morning we head to the airstrip to connect with a scheduled charter to Arusha airport. Here we transfer to a day room for you to freshen up, relax, re pack and have lunch. In the late afternoon you transfer to connect with International departures at Kilimanjaro airport.

Accommodations

 NGARE SERO MOUNTAIN LODGE

is set in lush gardens amid forest and crystal clear waters on the slopes of Mt Meru. The lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built in the early 20th century and it one of the oldest family lodges in Arusha. It offers 10 garden rooms and pool cottage with 2 bedrooms.

 KIRURUMU TARANGIRE LODGE

is set high on private land on the northern tip of the Tarangire National Park. The tented lodge has stunning views over the water hole and into the park and its ideally located 15 minutes drive away from the main Tarangire gate. 10 tented cottages with full ensuite bathrooms and electricity. The dining tent overlooks a camp fire and water hole.

 KIRURUMU MANYARA LODGE

is set high on the edge of the Great rift Valley, enjoying a marvelous, uplifting and panoramic view eastward over Lake Manyara, the Rift floor and Mt Losimingori. Behind Kirurumu, the Ngorongoro Highlands rise in green and fertile splendor. 22 tented rooms with fully ensuite bathrooms, a bar with complete sun deck and panoramic views, and dining room with friendly staff.

 NASIKIA MOBILE MIGRATION CAMP

moves during the year, in line with the seasonal Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra in the Serengeti. From December to March the camp is found in the Small Marsh campsite on the southern Serengeti plains; placing guests in amidst the migration, you have the chance to witness the miracle of life during calving season. From July to October the location changes to Bologonja, found in the Serengeti’s far north. This is an amazing place to watch the thousands of wildebeest try to cross the crocodile infested Mara Rivers. The mobile camp is comprised of 8-12 solar powered tents made from heavy duty safari canvas. Each tent has a spacious bedroom and patio area for relaxing. The bathroom includes a ceramic wash basin with running water, a supply of natural based bathroom products, and a flushing toilet, and bucket shower. The camp provides guests with a Lounge Tent and a large Dining Tent.
