Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival in Copenhagen, you will be met by a guide at the airport, who will provide you with all the information you need during your stay in Denmark. Subsequently, you will take a short drive to Dragsholm Castle, your first destination, just around 1 hour outside of the city. Your visit will start with a tour of this fascinating castle.
It is one of the oldest castles in Denmark and has a fascinating story dating back to the 12th century. You will sleep and eat in the historic buildings, that used to house the most important men and women in the Kingdom of Denmark. At Dragsholm Castle, the ambition is to welcome guests so that they may enjoy a unique combination of history, culture and gourmet food. Around Dragsholm Castle, the forest and the fields offer visitors superior nature and hunting experiences. At the end of Dragsholm Alley, there is a first-class sandy beach. Behind the thick walls of the castle, you can enjoy different leisure activities undisturbed and in a quiet environment. The gourmet dinner will be served in the restaurant.

Day 2: Dragsholm experience

Dragsholm Castle is surrounded by the beautiful and hilly, glacial landscape at the edge of Lammefjorden. We recommend a Nature Walk, a short guided tour that will allow you to explore the beautiful landscapes while learning interesting things about them. There are many great activities to choose from during your stay. From herb and mushroom tours to visits to some of the best food producers in Denmark, as well as biking, hunting and golfing opportunities. You will have the whole day to explore the castles and its surroundings. The kitchen can provide you with a picnic if you want to go on a walking or biking day tour. In the evening dinner is once more served in the gourmet restaurant.

Day 3: Kronborg Castle & Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

After the castle breakfast, we suggest a drive via Elsinore back to Copenhagen. In Elsinore, you can visit the newly build Maritime Museum as well as the famous renaissance Kronborg Castle known all over the world as Elsinore Castle and the setting for William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. The drive from Elsinore to Copenhagen takes you along the lovely coast, with small fishing villages and the best modern art museum in Denmark –Louisiana. It has gained a reputation as a museum in touch with the zeitgeist of the contemporary art world. It takes its point of departure in the period after 1945 including artists like Picasso, Giacometti, Andy Warhol, and Rauschenberg. Its sculpture garden is magnificent. You can also have lunch in the lovely museum’s café. In Copenhagen, you will be staying at the great Hotel d’Angleterre.

Day 4: History Tour

This morning, a guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you on a private walking tour around the oldest parts of Copenhagen, dating back to the year 1160. You will walk around the inner parts of the city and slowly work your way up through the centuries. The tour includes Rosenborg Castle, The Round Tower, Amalienborg Castle, The Stock exchange, Christiansborg Castle, Nyhavn, The Kings Garden and much more. The guide will provide the historical context of the buildings, while at the same time giving an overview of Danish history. We suggest that you have lunch in one of Copenhagen’s traditional restaurants and try smørrebrød. In the afternoon, you will be brought to a boat departure point where you will embark on a tour to experience the idyllic canals and harbours of Copenhagen. You will pass by some of the city’s most famous buildings, such as The Royal Opera, The Royal Playhouse and The National Library. In the evening we suggest a dinner at the exquisite Restaurant Barr that serves traditional food with a contemporary twist.

Day 5: Exploring Copenhagen on a bike

There is a reason why making a city more bike-friendly is called to Copenhagenize it. Copenhagen is the cyclist capital of the world. On this tour, you will gain insights into the Copenhagen bike culture, while experiencing it. During the tour we will pass by many of excellent examples of how Copenhagen has accommodated to its many cyclists: Bryggebroen – a bike and walk only bridge that has created a much-needed shortcut between two Copenhagen neighbourhoods. Dronning Louises Bro – the busiest bike path in the world. The first part of the Super Cycling Highway. We will ride slowly and make plenty of stops where the guides will provide insight into the history of the development of biking in Copenhagen.

Day 6: At your own leisure

Today is entirely at your own leisure to explore the city. We recommend you spend the day visiting some of Copenhagen’s fascinating museums or enjoying a fun day at Tivoli Gardens, the famous amusement park, which is one of the most popular attractions in Copenhagen and located in the heart of the city. We also recommend visiting Vesterbro - an area that is referred to as “The Other Copenhagen” by the New York Times. A visit to Carlsberg is also much recommended!

Day 7: Departure

You will be transferred to the airport to make your journey home.

DRAGSHOLM CASTLE

Dating back to the 12th century, Dragsholm Castle is one of the oldest castles in Denmark. It has served as a hotel for more than 80 years and has since then undergone a number of renovations to ensure that it maintains a high quality level. The castle has 41 rooms today.

NYHAVN 71

Located in old historic warehouses from the early 19th century, Nyhavn 71 stands as one of the most modern hotels in Copenhagen. In 2016, one of the warehouses underwent a complete renovation with newly furnished and decorated rooms, restaurant and lobby.
