Nature plays an absolutely essential role in the Faroe Islands and you will be able to experience the best of the Faroese nature as you spend your weekend with a hiking tour in the fells one day and a fishing tour on the following day. There are plenty of hikes to do, but probably the most important (and beautiful) one is the one that goes from the outskirts of Tórshavn to the historic settlement, Kirkjubøur. Throughout the hike, you will be surrounded by the spectacular view of the vast ocean. Once you reach Kirkjubøur, you will explore what used to be a local spiritual centre and still an important settlement to the islanders as it houses the Olav church, named after Saint Olav who is celebrated annually on the National Day in July. You will then make the scenic drive back to Tórshavn, where you have the rest of the afternoon at your own disposal.

Day 6: Sail Away

After breakfast, you will go on an unforgettable adventure as you board the beautiful schooner, Nordlysid. Up until 1980, this boat used to serve as a fishing boat, however, in recent years it has primarily been used to sail visitors as well as locals around some of the larger islands in the Northern Bay. Sailing around the islands is one of the most amazing ways of experiencing this beautiful place and its immense nature. As you sail through the restless waters you will truly feel in awe of the majestic nature. If the weather permits it, you might even be lucky enough to enter one of the many grottos. The acoustics in here are simply amazing and have thus served as the setting for yearly grotto concerts. The tour will last three hours after which you will return to Tórshavn and the rest of the afternoon will be at your own disposal.
