Day 1: ARRIVE YOGYAKARTA - DRIVE ABOUT 2 HOURS TO MAGELANG

Welcome to Yogyakarta, the only Indonesian royal city still ruled by a monarchy. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your guide and proceed on a 2-hour drive to a charming luxury resort surrounded by a luscious coffee plantation. You can indulge in their spa treatments or enjoy guided plantation walks to learn about the world renowned Javanese coffee. This afternoon, meet your guide for a for a “Royal Bath” tour. Follow the tracks of the old plantation trains through rice fields and sleepy villages, crossing rivers and abandoned bridges along the way until you reach hidden away in a quiet and beautiful valley these Majapahit baths, constructed in the 10th century. The Royal Baths, continuously replenished by spring water, is the perfect place for a dip, so be sure to bring along your sarong or bathing suit. You can walk back to resort or a car can be arranged to pick you up.

Day 2: FULL DAY TOUR TO DIENG PLATEAU

Today you will explore the mysterious plateau with a dozen scattered ninth century Hindu Temples. Located about 40miles (65km) from the resort, take a drive to this isolated region with temples of great archaeological importance located within Dieng's beautiful scenery. Steep mountainsides and terraced vegetable gardens enclose these marshy calderas of a collapsed volcano. Walk along the colored lakes and cover yourself with the mud of its steamy crater.

Day 3: DRIVE TO YOGYAKARTA VIA CANDIREGO VILLAGE AND BOROBUDUR TEMPLE

Enjoy some leisure time in the morning and check-out at noon. Meet your guide and drive to Candirejo Village where you will explore the village with a local guide and gain insight and knowledge of local customs and traditions. Art, handicrafts, traditional health drinks and the agricultural system of inter cropping will be shown. When the heat of the day cools down, visit Borobudur Temple, a UNESCO Heritage Site. Borobudur temple is a Buddhist stupa and temple complex dating back from the 8th century, this is one of world’s truly great ancient monuments, the single largest Buddhist structure anywhere on earth. The construction is thought to have taken a period of 75 years, and completed in about 825 CE. Borobudur consists of six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with no less than 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues of various types. Then continue about an hour drive to Yogyakarta and check into your hotel. Tonight you can explore on your own around Malioboro Street (about 10min by taxi from hotel) to sample interesting local street food. There are plenty of Angkringan/Sego Kucing sellers around the street. Sego Kucing are small portions of rice with toppings, usually spicy sauce (sambal), dried fish, and tempeh, wrapped in banana leaves. If you prefer restaurant food, turn right to Sosrowijayan Street and go to Atap restaurant (there are other restaurants there as well that you can try). They have western food with an interesting choice of sauces.

Day 4: SULTAN'S PALACE & PRAMBANAN TEMPLES

Explore the Sultan's Palace located in the heart of old city. The huge palace of the Sultans of Yogyakarta is actually the center of a small walled city within the city. Over 25,000 people live within the greater Keraton compound, which its own market, shops, batik and silver cottage industries, school and mosques. Continue on to the nearby water castle Taman Sari, a splendid pleasure park of palace, pools and waterways for the Sultan and his entourage to enjoy. Later in the day, visit Prambanan Temples located at the city outskirts. The Hindu temple complex is of stunning beauty, and devoted to the gods Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. Transfer back to your hotel in Yogyakarta after the tour.

Day 5: FLY TO LABUAN BAJO (FLORES ISLAND) VIA BALI

After breakfast, meet your guide for a transfer to the airport for your flight to Labuan Bajo via Bali. You will be able to check your baggage all the way from Yogyakarta to Labuan Bajo. At Bali, you might want to have lunch at local restaurants near the airport before boarding the next flight. Upon arrival in Labuan Bajo Airport, you will be welcomed by your driver and transferred to your beach resort. Rest of the day is free to relax.

Day 6: START OF KOMODO ISLAND CRUISE

Breakfast at hotel then transfer to the harbor to board your private charter boat or a join-in cruise. Below is a sample itinerary on the possible activities during a typical cruise around the Komodo, actual program depends on the final choice of ship vessel. After checking in, the boat will cruise to Rinca Island that will take approximately 3 hours to get there. On arrival, head to ranger station and do an easy trek to see the Komodo dragon with the ranger on the island. You may adjust your time on the trekking with the ranger as you need. Once finished, go back to boat and sail to Kalong Island. Kalong Island is a small island consists of mangrove forest. The island becoming the “house” of thousand bats. If you are lucky enough, you will see thousands of bats flying out from their nest looking for food. If time allow before heading to Kalong Island you can snorkeling on Kambing Island.

Day 7: KOMODO ISLAND CRUISE

This morning arrive at Padar Island and trek to a hill for the one of the best views in Komodo Park. Padar Island is the third largest island in the Komodo National Park. You might see some wild boars during the trek. After, sail to Komodo Island to another look at the Komodo Dragons and other animals such as deer, wild boar and birds. Continue to enjoy some snorkeling and relaxing at the world heritage site of Pink Beach (Pantai Merah).

Day 8: KOMODO ISLAND CRUISE

Today enjoy snorkeling at one of the famous site in Komodo National Park at Manta Point where sightings or manta rays are often encountered. Although seeing manta rays can't be guaranteed, it offers an excellent snorkeling experience. Reefs are laying from only 2 meters to 9 meters depth. Turtles, sharks, eagle rays, giant trevallies, huge clams, various kind of sponges, and cuttle fish are things you may see during your snorkeling. Later, sail to Gili Lawa Darat the north part of Komodo National Park. This island is just the greatest sunset spot in Komodo. It remains the best spot for having a beer while waiting for the sun slowly drops behind the horizon. We will need to arrive there in the afternoon by 3 o'clock. Once anchored, you can go on a trek to the top of this island. It should take about 15 to 20 minutes to reach the top for the sunset views. Facing to the west, there you can see Sanghiang island from far, an active volcano island. Sunset hours is around 5 to 6 pm, then have to be back to boat for overnight.

Day 9: END OF BOAT CRUISE - BEGIN OVERLAND ADVENTURE AT FLORES ISLAND

This morning, enjoy snorkeling or diving at two beautiful Kanawa Island and Bidadari Island.

Then cruise back to Labuan Bajo and bid farewell to your crew. Meet your guide and driver and began your overland trip to the far interiors of Flores Island. The barren landscape of Western-Flores becomes greener as you approach the town of Ruteng. The drives takes about 5 hours with stops along the way. Ruteng is a small, Catholic city with lively stores and a market. Because of its slightly elevated location, Ruteng has a cool and pleasant climate. The city is also the center of the Manggarai tribal people.

You will be staying in modest (best available) guest houses during your stay at Flores. As tourism has just been recently developed, there are not many options for accommodation and roads could be affected by construction works. However, you will get to enjoy authentic tribal cultures and spectacular sceneries that are truly off beaten path.

Day 10: DRIVE ABOUT 7 HOURS TO BAJAWA

This is a long day but you will stop along the way during the drives. The first part drives through rugged hills and dense jungle, than the landscape becomes more open and you will have spectacular views on the sea, the many volcano tops and lava stream. This friendly hill town is the centre of the Ngada people, one of the most traditional of Flores with five tribal groups. Each has its own customs, languages, beliefs and distinctive dress made of hand-spun ikat cloth, intricately patterned and colored with dye extracted from plants and minerals.

Day 11: BAJAWA VILLAGE HIKE

After breakfast at your hotel, a local guide will pick you up to start a hike through traditional villages along the foot of the Inerie Volcano. You will have an opportunity to visit Bena with megalithic stones, and see the meetings places where the head of the villages perform rituals. The traditional houses of Bena have steep high roofs of grass. Some have been rewarded with the image of a warrior with a spear, other are represented by a woman, showing who lives in the house. From a hill top, you can have a good overview of this town, the volcano and the blue Sawu Sea.

Day 12: DRIVE ABOUT 8 HOURS TO MONI VILLAGE

Another long but scenic drive today that brings you to the more elevated town of Moni. On the way you may stop at some villages.

Day 13: SUNRISE OVER MT. KELIMUTU & FLY TO BALI

Rise early morning at about 4am, meet your guide and drive towards the base of Kelimutu National Park. Walk about one mile over the sand ocean and up 127 steps to crater rim to view Kelimutu’s green, blue and black lakes over sunrise. Return to your lodge for a pancake breakfast before visiting the market of Moni and local agriculture.

Afternoon, transfer to Ende airport for a flight to Bali. There is a short 30min layover at Labuan Bajo.

Upon arrival at Bali, you will be welcomed and transferred to your resort located in the lush rice fields of Ubud.

Day 15: UBUD SPIRITUAL TOUR OF GUNUNG KAWI

Today you will have a spiritual sight of Bali in depth. The tour will start with a visit to a foundation where they will show you how to create a Canang or traditional offering. This offering will be brought to the temples to ask permission of the gods to enter the temple. The guide will explain about the offering and the way of making the prayer before taking the holy bath to purify yourself. At Gunung Kawi you will see the beautiful rice fields and the carved façade dating back to the 11th century. They are called the Kings of tombs, commemorating the Udayana Kingdom. Back to the foundation you will be served a local lunch at a beautiful spot amidst the rice fields surrounding the class rooms of the foundation. Transfer back to Ubud town where you can some free time to visit art galleries or local markets.

Day 16: HALF DAY CYCLING TOUR

This morning, head further up north with your guide where you will get on a bicycle to explore small back roads as you slowly make your way downhill back to Ubud. Along the way you get to enjoy beautiful views on rice paddies with a mountainous backdrop. Pass quiet villages and traditional farming communities to get a better insight into Balinese life. Learn more about typical Balinese compound and the significance of the buildings and members of which it is composed.
